A Daughter's and Her Father's Graphic Novel

Sometimes, it's the difficult times that can cause something very special to happen. During a nerve-wracking period of changing schools, my daughter came up with a very fascinating story about how a princess rescues a prince. She asked me to draw the first panels as a Graphic novel, and I started illustrating without hesitation. Every time I picked her up from school, I showed her what I did, and she kept weaving the story further, until eventually, over the course of half a year, we were brewing a full Graphic Novel together, processing our experience as father and daughter through storytelling.

The Attentive reader might notice that it's not just a medieval fantasy story, but one about caretaking, about unquestioned and outdated traditions, about hangryness, and how a princess doesn't use a sword and a shield to hold the kingdom together. Instead, Madita has a big and righteous heart, spots lies, and courageously trusts that everything will go as it's supposed to.

After having the honor of premiering our graphic novel at the Maljam festival, we are now thrilled to share the online version!
